Evaluation - Question 2.

2. How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)?

I believe that there is a strong link between my video and ancillary texts. As I have repeatedly used the same image for each ancillary texts which consists of a screen shot from my music video. I have carefully chosen the text, as I feel that it adds a feminine touch, seeing as the lead vocalist is female. This feminine touch actually helped the digipak to look quite sophisticated and realistic. As it didn't come across as tacky.

Digipak.

With an added level and colour change on photoshop, the image from my music video has been used for my digipak and advert.

Target Audience

I feel that my target audience would strongly appeal to my digipak and advert as it is very simple. Simplicity is a main aspect throughout the indie genre, seeing as most artists feel that their music is more important that presenting it. By answering genral questions according to target audiences, we generated a Moodle which is basically a bubble which consists of words. These words that we inputed in to Moodle are our answers from target audience questions. Below is an image of what was created.

Digipak and Advert Research

This video above is a quick detailed summary of what research I did in order to create my digipak and advert.

  1. This is a great start to this question. I really like the video and the use of comparative images. A few points:
Can you give your wordle a label? I know what it is but it may not be that clear to others. There is a spelling (in the text under the wordle) that makes the sentence strange: it should say 'than' not 'that' - read it through and you'll see what I mean.
I think it's important for you to acknowledge why you don't use your artist on the front. The digipak/adverts that you have researched all have their artist on the front, yet yours doesn't. You shouldn't really gloss over this - it's an important decision that you've made and so it must be referred to.
