Evaluation Question 1.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our group were mainly inspired by the video Kickstarts by Example.

We found that this music video inspired us, mainly because of the use of spilt screen throughout the video. Although we have used it in a different way, I feel that the outcome was very similar. As I instantly thought that this technique was eye catching, so did most people who said this throughout our audience feedback.  Here are some screen shots which show how we incorporated this technique in to our video.

Example - Kickstarts

Another way that Kickstarts - Example influenced our video is my shooting various amounts of people in the same position. Then placing them together and cutting these clips to the beat.

I feel that after creating our music video that editing has definitely influenced me. I feel so comfortable with using Final Cut Pro, and I love the fact that I have the ability to edit and place different pieces of camera work together.

Seeing as our genre was Indie, I throughly researched within this genre to see how artists present their work. I noticed that simplicity was a main aspect, as they feel that they want their audience to focus on their music and not the way they present it. Therefore, baring this in mind, I felt that I had to focus on this aspect. This is why I have used the same image for my advertisement and digipak, therefore when my audience see this image they will instantly recognise the artist.

  1. Right. I think there is a bit of a small problem here in that the music is not from the indie genre. Indie is guitar-based band music such as Blur, Oasis, Coldplay, Supergrass etc. I think what is confusing you is that Florence's version of this song is Indie but the Candy Statton original was from the dance genre. This song has a noticeable drum beat which is heavily from the dance/pop genre and is more closely related to the original than the florence version.
You will need to have a ponder on this....
